The Organic bedding range made by Organic Bed Threads is made in India and there are very strict fair trade criteria we adhere to.

These are based on the key norms of the International Labour Organisation (ILO),* Switzerland, a specialised agency of the United Nations.

Our social compliance management has clearly defined elements:

Employment if freely chosen
Our wonderful team want to work with us and are cared for. No one forces anyone to work, or takes their identity papers. They are free to choose to be a part of our team. We actually want them to stay with us, be part of our family and grow with our business (makes good business sense too!).

Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected
That's a technical-sounding term for having the right to form a union and to bargain collectively. It's our right in the Western world, and it's their right too.

Working conditions are safe and hygienic
We make sure we have a safe and hygienic working environment and minimise workplace hazards. Our team receive regular and recorded health and safety training.

Child labour must not be used
Would you like your school-age child to be working long hours for a meager wage?
No! Well, neither would we - so we don't employ children. Simple as that.

Living wages
We pay fair and equitable wages and meet national legal standards. And pay for every hour worked.

Working hours are not excessive
Feeling like working long hours, 7 days a week? No one does. So we made sure that our workers don't work excessive hours. It's in our interests as well - a happy work team means excellent productivity and top quality products.

No discrimination
People are people, with their own unique gifts and talents - we don't discriminate according to race, caste, national origin, religion, age, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, union membership or political affiliation.

Regular employment is provided
It makes good business sense for us to provide regular employment - good for us, good for our team!

Harsh or inhumane treatment is prohibited
Be considerate in the workplace - respectful, clear and appreciative. Need we say more?

Social Compliance Management
Workers have a life outside of work - we make sure in our policies for social accountability are in order.
