The Contribution Women's Groups Make to the Ethical Textile Industry

on Monday, 06 March 2017.

International Women's Day is a day for the celebration of women around the globe and the contributions they make to family, community and the broader economy.

Women play significant roles in Organic Bed Threads business model, founded and designed by a woman, and with deliberate aims of seeking out and encouraging women in rural developing India to harness their age old, passed on hand crafts. We pay homage every day to the female Indian farmers, artisans and women's groups who lovingly hand make our ethical bed linen so beautifully for conscious slumber. Not a day goes by when we are not awed by the beauty of the true essence that is handmade and time well spent, with their adorned stitches upon our fair trade & organic duvet covers.

New Year, New Bedroom Chi

on Tuesday, 24 January 2017.

bedroom chai blog organicbedthreadsEnergy, that invisible element, like wind and time. We know it's there, we can feel it and its repercussions, we are surrounded by many types - electronic, atmospheric, flammable and personal to name a few. Good, bad, or indifferent, the energy in our homes need to be cared for, or you will be affected. So, there is a lot to be said about getting the energy right in ones living spaces, especially the bedroom as we spend approximately one third of our lives in slumber.

In the bedroom, where you harness the life-renewing force of sleep, chi (energy) becomes perhaps more important than anywhere else. Bedroom energy can influence family relationships, and it is one of the most important rooms for marriage and relationship, our greatest creative loving action. Building biology, space clearing and the 5000-year-old practice of Feng Shui - combining elements of geology, psychics, mathematics, philosophy, astrology, astronomy and intuition - are actions that create beautiful and nourishing environments that enhance positive chi.

Most of us can feel when a space is at odds with our comfort level, and instinctively make changes to that area. You don't need to get bogged down with some of the intricate and esoteric applications that these principles can go into interesting depth about, though applying some of the more practical guides may help the quality of your rest and sleep, enhance harmony in relationships, romance and love, promote a healthy career and prosperity.

The Ethics of New Years Resolutions

PromisesWeMakeOurselvesBlogAnother New Year and know doubt many resolutions will be set by millions. For all the good intentions we set, less than 10% of us keep our resolutions according to research by the University of Scranton in the USA, as published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology.
In 2013 it was 8% by 2016 it was 9.2%, a sad increase when, after all, we are only letting ourselves down with the promises we set for ourselves and in turn how we treat ourselves.
The aim of setting goals is to surely fall in love with taking care of our self, mind, body and spirit. The key to achieving our goals, is to ditch the weighty bucket list of resolutions that reappear each year, without a great deal to show for our chipping away from the previous year, which often keeps us feeling guilty.
On the first day of 2017, the Statistic Brain Research Institute conducted research and found the following revealing new year resolutions statistics:
